Illegal Search and Seizure question?

My boyfriend (at the time, married now) we live together and have since he bought the house. He is on probation I am not. They were called for a disturbance call and asked me to leave the house for the night. So I did. They searched our bedroom closet without permission and charged me with possession. Is this illegal? Even if he is on probation, I am not and my things are still mine??
