I lost my sound driver's c.D.?

I have installed someother sound driver as i lost the c.D containing sound drivers..I want to buy speakers.How can i test whether the sound output is coming from speaker ports or not?I have only headset..Also the headset when connected to sound card,is giving a lot of disturbance besides playing..Do i need to replace sound card?Can i test speaker ports with headset?
