How can i protect my solanum rantonnetii from winter time?

ive buried my solanum rantonnetii in my front garden and i was reading up about them and alot of people have said that they don't do very well in the winter time. So is there anyway i can put a bag over it? or should i dig it up and put it in a pot so it can be moved?
